The Speaker issued the following letter to the Ranking Member of the Committee on Vacation in respect to not attending Vacation to Columbus, Ohio. He cites concerns about Sarah Cavinder remaining ill. In addition, last time the House went on Vacation (Kalamazoo), Christina Cavinder was ill. Following vacation, the Speaker got ill. Therefore, in order to prevent the same thing from happening, it is the best intrest of the Speaker not to attend.

I have failed to hear from you in respect to my previous communication in relation to the concerns about this upcoming Vacation. I have received no assurances from you or anyone in respect to the matter.
Given that Sarah is still ill, I inform you that I will not attend the Vacation to Columbus, Ohio as outlined in House Resolution 41.
