LaPORTE—Today Speaker Leo W. Cavinder declared a State of Emergency to go into effect between December 22 through December 24th.
Due to the impending storm, and based on recent developlments from the National Weather Service (NWS), I have declared under my powers a State of Emergency.
We are expecting to see wind gusts of up to 49 miles per hour, blizzard like conditions, wind chills 15 to 25 below zero, 8-12 inces of system snow, and 6 or more of lake effect snow.
This storm puts strain on the Highway Management Agency and therefor warrants supports. I am ordering:
The State of Emergency is effective at 5:00 PM (CST) on Thursday, December 22, 2022 through 9:00 PM (CST) on Saturday, December 24, 2022 and may be extended should it be warranted.
